In August 2006, I went to Dr Korkis for a snoring problem.  I was keeping my husband awake at night and kept waking myself up.  I woke up at least 15 to 20 times in a night. When morning came, I could not get out of bed as I felt exhausted. During the day,  I always felt tired and lacked energy. Dr. Korkis sent me for a Sleep Apnea study that confirmed my sleeping difficulty.
Dr. Korkis recommended that I have the Pillar Implant Procedure done I was apprehensive at first, but also knew that I could not continue to function without a good night's sleep.  My job requires me to travel from time to time and to be alert.   In September 2006,   had the procedure performed in Dr.Korkis' office. The only thing I felt  during the whole procedure was a slight needle prick  One hour after the implants were in place the freezing was gone and I had a sore throat that lasted for about one week. I did not need to take any pain medication and if I had to go to work the next day I could have done so.  Within a few hours I was able to drink fluids and could eat solid food.
That same night, we noticed a difference in my sleeping pattern; the snoring seemed to have been slightly reduced.  As the months went on, I continued to show improvement as the snoring became softer and softer.  To my pleasure, my husband no longer has his sleep disrupted due to snoring and he does not have to leave the room at night.  My grandchildren also commented, "Grandma you do not snore anymore."  It has been 3 months since I had the Pillar Implants put in place and I do not wake up at night due to snoring or gasp for breath. I cannot feel the implants in my mouth, nor can they be seen.  I feel good when I wake up and no longer feel tired or drained.  My husband says that my snoring is at least  75-80% improved I never hear myself snore now and I feel great.
If I had to do this all over again, I would not hesitate to have the procedure done. I do recommend the Pillar Procedure for anyone who lacks sleep due to snoring.
